Wagga Wagga Marketplace in collaboration with Region Riverina is proud to launch the second year of our Primary School Art Competition, aimed at showcasing the incredible talent of young artists in our local community. We believe that every child deserves a platform to express their creativity and share their unique stories with the community in which we live.
Theme
This year’s theme is “The Future of the Riverina”. The heart of this campaign is being able to see the future of our community through the eyes of our youngest generation, allowing them to explore their unique ideas and creativity.
Rules
● Must be A1 in size. Landscape or portrait allowed.
● Must be created on the paper provided by the Wagga Wagga Marketplace.
● Must be unmounted and unframed.
● Any art materials or combination of art materials may be used (e.g. paint, pencil, crayons, pastels, paper collage) but the artwork must be two-dimensional. No sculptures. Print-outs of digitally created drawings (eg. those drawn with a stylus on a tablet) are not eligible for entry.
● Submissions must be able to be rolled for postage.
● Must be original to the student/s.
● Artwork must include a local landmark of town.
How to enter
To enter, pick up your Competition Pack from Wagga Marketplace from Monday 8th July, 2024. Once the artwork is completed, please drop it off to/mail it back to Wagga Marketplace by Week 8 – Friday 13th September, 2024.
Judging
Finalists will be judged by a panel, where one submission will be chosen as the winner, one submission as runner-up, one submission as third place and one submission announced as People’s Choice winner.
- How well the piece relates to the theme
- Aesthetic and artistic appeal
- Creativity
- Originality
The judges’ decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
People’s Choice will be awarded to the artwork that has received the most votes via online vote on the Region Riverina website.
Prizes
- First place $750 awarded to the school and a $200 Wagga Marketplace gift card to the student
- Second place $500 awarded to the school and a $150 Wagga Marketplace gift card to the student
- Third place $300 awarded to the school and a $100 Wagga Marketplace gift card to the student
- People’s Choice Award – $750 awarded to the school and a $200 Wagga Marketplace giftcard – Please note that the People’s Choice award cannot be won by the first, second or third place winners. If one of these places wins People’s Choice, the prize will go to the next in line.
All winning artworks will feature on the Region Riverina website and a feature article will be written about the school and artist/s.
